A "drought democracy" requires independent thinking and personal responsibility in the actions of its citizens.
Where genuine risks would exist – in pharmaceutical residues in drinking water – there is conspicuous silence. With valuable sources, we have been providing official values, interesting studies and facts on the growing contamination of our drinking water on this channel for years, as well as information about the significant value of clean, toxin-free water for people. A fourth treatment stage in wastewater treatment plants would finally protect people from continuous, silent poisoning, yet "excessively high costs" have so far prevented the retrofitting of treatment plants.
The hypocritical measures taken by politics to secure drinking water can also be exposed through another aspect: Every day in Germany we lose more than 1.3 billion liters of water through deteriorated pipes. That amounts to around 470–500 million m³ annually. At 0.2 cents per liter, that is 946 million euros annually that are allowed to seep away year after year.
